Thanks for taking an interest.
I'm a programmer. I build web sites and other network-aware applications. I work in Linux, Unix, and Windows. My languages include C/C++, C#, Java, VBScript, Perl, JavaScript, and PHP among others.
This web site has two purposes. First, it's a means for sharing news about myself with friends and family. Second, it is partly devoted to showcasing my digital photograph distribution system: XimagiTM. Ximagi is a web application that co-exists with your existing web site and provides digital photograph search and retrieval functions to your users. It can be easily customized to match the look and feel of your site, and it will read the IPTC information embedded in your collection.
While these twin justifications are consonant with each other to a great extent, the latter tramples upon the former in two respects:
- Were this site solely my personal photo album, I would be much more selective about which photos I publish. Instead, I've included just about anything that wouldn't embarrass me or the people in them so that Ximagi's page handling functions can be appreciated.
- I have activated the watermark feature to illustrate Ximagi's capabilities in that area, although given my lack of photographic talent, there is no danger that anyone would misappropriate my work, and I'm sure most of my family and friends would prefer to see the preview sizes without the watermark.
I license Ximagi through my company Two BirchesTM.
To view the most recently added galleries, click on the galleries by upload date link in the top navigation bar, or galleries by event date if you prefer to see galleries ordered by event date rather than upload date. You can also list galleries by the event name by clicking on the gallery headlines by date link, or according to who is pictured by clicking on the browse people by name link -- both in the top navigation.
Rounding out the non-Ximagi links is my Journal page which I don't promise to update with any regularity.
I'm one of those lucky few who gets paid for doing what he loves. Programming is as fun for me as kayaking or skiing is for others. I don't have separate work and leisure modes; I approach both with the same vivacity. I hope the joy that I pour into this, my creative outlet, rubs off on you as you explore these pages.
Peace
Chris
